Chaos Ensues!!
Over the past week we've been hard at work to bring some exciting updates to the table. From visual to gameplay we've been prototyping and thinking on how to deliver the best game possible within our scope heres what we've been up to.
🔥 What We’ve Been Up To 🔥
Over the past week, we’ve tackled the following questions:
🔹 How will attacks against the boss be performed?
🔹 What will attacking look like?
🔹 What will our UI look like?
🔹 How many visual effect should we have?
And we've continued work on further figuring out our visuals such as our artstyle and our boss to character scale and gameplay mechanics such as our hold notes and how they should be performed.
Now lets look at what goals we've achieved to satisfaction.
🎯 What goals did we meet?
✅ Multiplayer Expansion – We're expanding the mayhem to support up to 4 players!
✅ MIDI Audio Integration – Refining our gameplay loop by fully integrating MIDI timestamps, making track creation smoother and the beats even more fun to play.
✅ Art Development – Our team is fleshing out the Art Bible with character sketches, boss designs, pixel art, UI concepts, and effects to enhance gameplay feedback.
✅ Sound Design – Experimenting with different beat structures and sound layers to craft a track that’s both challenging and immersive.
✅ Combat Mechanics (if time allows!) – Adding a simple combat layer where players can whittle down the boss's health bar through rhythmic attacks.
So far we've managed to handle the load and hopefully we will keep meeting all our project goalposts.
🎯 What’s Next?
✅ Make our character designs
✅ Finalize our UI layout
✅ Prototype the sound of the ultimate attack and other sound effects
✅ Integrate all other prototypes to get a single cohesive product
✅ Prototype a looping part in the music (stretch goal!)
